2020.09.21 10:24 typicalschoolbShould I cut her out?
I have a friend who I’ll call joy. I knew joy from a mutual friend and I’ve been friends for her for exactly a year now. We were super close because we had no one else to start university with. However, in July, my dad passed away and I had a very very hard time because he was basically my best friend and my support system. Obviously a few days after he passed I wasn’t replying much to my friend joy and she became angry at me. When I told her my dad had passed, she said quote on quote “condolences man” and nothing else. I was already kind of put back because it sounded disrespectful but I let that go. About five days after my dad passed she comes and says dude r u on ur period why r u so cranky to me over text. She was saying how I was being mean and unfair to her although I was not in my situation. She said I was using her as a punching bag and nothing more. She apologized for saying that to me a while later bc she said she felt bad. But words are said and can’t be taken back in my opinion. And she kept going on. Even when I said lm just depressed she replied with ok. I thought of her as my best friend. Her excuse for not talking to me about my dad passing was because she didn’t want to bring it up but she never once asked me if I was ok. Back track, in first semester and throughout first year she really adored this guy and thought he was super cute. She liked him for his looks but never interacted with him ever. I’ll call him Ben. Ben reached out to me because he saw we had the same class and texted me. I was surprised so I texted joy telling her that he texted me and I can now introduce her to him. And hype her up to him for that matter. She said no. So I didn’t do it. Ben and I continued talking and I started to realize that he is a rly good friend to me and we had a lot in common but I felt guilty talking to him. Fast forward, joy told me she has no feelings toward Ben anymore and doesn’t care about him. And the reason why she was being distant with me is because I didn’t tell her I was talking to him since she saw him tag me in a Facebook post. However, today, she tells me that she feels uncomfortable and that I’m breaking girl code for talking to someone that she used to like (they never talked once again). She said she can’t control me but is pissed off that I’m friends with him. Is this reasonable? I should cut her off right ? How do you cut someone off?
Long story short had 2 best friends (girls) we were in Middle school. Did everything together. One day had a small fight on some random topic and I disagreed on what they were gonna do because they both were the mischievous kids and I was the weird one. So the next day , I went to the playground as usual and guess what they both were there but not as my friends but as my bullies. Not gonna scrape old wounds but they both bullied me physically and mentally and made a kid of suicidal thoughts at a tender age of around 10. I told nobody about it because where I live your problems are your problems and parents don't care if you're getting bullied unless it's related to their image in the society. We were friends from childhood , we still are but I probably won't trust them as I used to in my childhood. Still wondering if I should rethink on the subject that I am still friends with my bullies. Probably a random quote:The worlds a nice place. The people are screwed up.
2020.09.21 10:17 BPC3Someone keeps killing off covid skeptics
Okay, so let me start by saying that I wavered extensively on whether or not to post this, largely because I fear that if I talk about this, I'm marking myself as the next victim. But I keep seeing the same story, over and over again, and it's starting to get concerning. I'm sure you've seen the headlines. The basic form is always the same: "Person who denied/downplayed/refused to accept restrictions for COVID died (of COVID)" The most notable example was Herman Cain, and that's where I started to get suspicious. A major black political figure on the right goes to a Trump rally, and gets sick with this hypothetical disease and immediately dies? That seems almost absurdly on the nose. There's no way that's a coincidence. But this story just keeps on happening. Hell, it's apparently quite a lot of /leopardsatemyface these days - just pointing out examples of exactly this pattern. It's almost as if people who point out what a big hoax this is are getting targeted by someone. I tried bringing it up with them but they weren't hearing it, despite being the best evidence I've ever seen for something screwy and lethal going on. As of yet, I'm not sure who might be behind this, but the fact that the media is consistently ready to write this story at the drop of a hat over and over again seems to indicate they are at least aware that someone is killing off COVID skeptics. As usual, the democrats are a good bet, as is China - both have pushed the hoax hard, and both have long been documented as more than willing to murder people for their dangerous communist ideology. Please, be careful who you talk to about this stuff. It seems like getting quoted in the news as a skeptic may be a way of marking people for death.

Excerpt from the interview by Del Bosque to Zubi. Su gran problema es que compite contra si mismo" ( "Messi has failed to show the image of a neighborhood player, that is, of being a very good teammate, having good behavior at the club to be an ideal footballer. His big problem is that he competes against himself" )
2020.09.21 10:13 LoydWalkerHerd Mentality: The time an entire nation of women almost rebelled against their husbands
Thousands of years ago, the king of the most powerful nation on earth at the time held a massive feast and invited people both great and small to attend. We pick up this story in Esther chapter 1. On the 7th day of this feast, “when the heart of the king is merry with wine” he commands his chamberlains to bring Vashti the queen before him, because he wants to show off her beauty to his guests. [First note, don’t make dumb decisions when drunk or under the influence. Well, don’t make dumb decisions regardless, but there is a reason God says “Do not be drunk with wine…but be filled with the Spirit] And the queen does something that shocks the establishment… she refuses to come at the king’s commandment. So the king seeks counsel with his princes and he asks what should be done with queen Vashti, since she refused his command?
The 7 princes of Persia fear herd mentality
Memucan, one of the princes, speaks up and says “Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.” (Esther 1:16) The case is made that the queen has done wrong to all the people everywhere. He goes on to say that her disobedience will become known “unto all women” and “they shall despise their husbands in their eyes” and says this is true even among the ladies of Persia and Media (the higher class women), and there shall be much contempt and wrath. The solution? A royal commandment is to be written and published throughout the empire, and translated into different languages as needed, to make known that the queen is to be removed and can no longer come before the king, and that her royal estate is to be given to another better than she. Moreover, the bible goes on to tell us: “And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small. “And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan: For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to the language of every people.”
Ancient evidence of herd mentality or over rated fear?
A few thoughts: Keep in mind, the culture was conducive to men bearing rule and women being submissive. They didn’t deal with 3rd wave feminism as we do today. You would think they wouldn’t be that rattled, with a culture like that. Surely women wouldn’t rebel to the degree they suggested. And yet they were concerned. They either had a very real appreciation for how humans respond to the “crowd effect” and how it spreads, and particularly they viewed women especially susceptible to this, or they had an overreaction. Also keep in mind these men are responsible for giving good advice. That’s obviously not a guarantee everything they say is right, but their head could be on the chopping block for giving counsel that leads to disastrous results. This would likely push them to develop a keen understanding of the nature of men and women, and how others respond to various events. It was their jobs and livelihood to know. An opposite example from the same story
In the second chapter of this story, we see two men who seek to assassinate the king. An inquisition is made, and they are caught and hanged. You’d think an attempt like this on the king’s life might warrant a decree going out as a deterrent. Are the princes worried men might rebel when word of this gets out? That rebellion against the king or the government might get stirred up in some of the provinces? If yes, we’re not told of it. Perhaps the princes felt men don’t respond to the same degree as women, and it’s not needed.
Other reasons and random thoughts
One, the first event was high profile, and untold numbers were invited, both great and small, and word would spread more easily. Second, the disobedience in the former case came from a position of authority (the queen), and people are often influenced by those in authority. Third, the princes seemed concerned (or Memucan, at least) that they might be personally affected, where even the ladies of Persia and Mede would act contrary to their husbands. Still, even with these being considered, the fact that the culture would have been so heavily on the side of submission and respect toward husbands, that this passage lends itself to the princes truly believing in a herd mentality of women.
Let’s get God’s view
And this is difficult, because there are no direct quotes or “Thus saith the LORD” in regard to this event. There is, however, what God chose to include in these passages. If you believe in divine inspiration of scripture, and that God has included (or excluded) what He wants in His Word, then it’s interesting to note that He included the passages referenced above. For example, the somewhat detailed discussion of the princes isn’t really needed to advance the story. We could have been told the queen disobeyed, and after seeking counsel with his princes, the king decided to remove the queen and seek another. Instead, we get the low down on what Memucan said and how the king approved of his words. Some bible passages often give us the bird’s eye view and don’t give as much detail, while others do provide such. So it’s interesting to note that this is included here. What to make of it? That’s for you to think on and ponder, and whether it’s a small biblical hint toward the “crowd effect” for women.
For men and women both
While one may argue over which sex is more influenced by crowds and to what degree, I think most people agree that men and women can be and often are influenced by crowds, peer pressure and what society and the culture are pushing. You can see small (or large) aspects of this in fashion, in investing, and in many areas, including relationships and sex. With that in mind, let me encourage you in the following: Follow God. Don’t follow the crowd. The only time you should be moving in the same direction of the crowd is if they happen to be following you, as you follow God. Tune out the TV, magazines, videos, blogs and others who promote an anti-biblical message. Want to know what is right? Look to what God’s Word says. Let that be your guide, for God tells us His Word “is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” You’re responsible for you. The “everyone else is doing it” excuse won’t work with the Lord. The “Well, so and so seems godly and they said it was OK or they are doing it and so I’m following them” won’t work either. No. You are responsible for you. Be like the Bereans, who searched the scriptures to see if what the apostle Paul was telling them was true. If you lack wisdom to know, God says to ask for it, and it will be given. Let the scriptures be your standard. Always.

2020.09.21 10:04 mwahmycuredmeatsMy mom complains about having to talk to me via therapy
And I get it in some ways. From her perspective, she's super reasonable and I'm just going through a weird years-long phase where I act like she's hurt me. But I remember that she's stolen my diary and quoted it back to me. She's told me I'm an attention whore for posting my art online. She's told me I make a Mockery of Christianity by cutting my hair short and dating people with mental illness. She's told me I'm only allowed to talk to my bf 30 minutes a day, even though I was a legal adult. She made me feel so powerless in my life as a shy, homeschooled kid that I fantasized about being an orphan. She tries to tell me that I shouldn't be allowed to have boundaries because she gave birth to me, and honestly sometimes it works. Sometimes it's easier to just cave in rather than be hit with the message that I'm a bad daughter. The guilt works even if I know she's wrong. And now she's complaining that I'm making her pay for therapy, when really she was making herself pay by abusing me at my most vulnerable.
2020.09.21 10:03 a_corgi_could_neverDAE have a hard time deciding which is letting yourself sink in depression and ignoring it?
I heard a quote once, that said "letting yourself feel your feelings sets you free". Meaning you have to let yourself cringe on your awkward moments to process them and let them go, you have to experience the stages of grief in order to process a death, etc. etc. But I'm having a hard time feeling the balance here. I can't distinguish whether or not I'm letting myself sink into feeling sorry for myself and my situation, and other times I completely ignore it, pretend it's not there because i have to get stuff done and I can have stuff done, but that just makes it worse. I hope it makes sense??
Could someone clip the portion of the movie where tyler and the narrator are behind the liquor store/convenience mart w/ a gun in the Asian kids mouth? I love the quote after regarding how the kid will never have a better breakfast than the one coming the next morning. Thanks(:

The investigative report released on Sunday shows the involvement of Nepali companies and banks attempting to deceive US sanctions on trade especially on Iran and China. This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 39%. (I'm a bot)
Two bomb disposal workers - one from the UK and one from Australia - have died after an explosion in the Solomon Islands. Stephen "Luke" Atkinson and his Australian colleague Trent Lee worked for Norwegian People's Aid, which helps remove undetonated ordinance left over from the Pacific front of the Second World War. The NPA - which has 1,850 "Deminers" working across 19 countries - has suspended operations in the region while the investigation takes place. Mr Atkinson and Mr Lee had been working on a project to create a database of leftover explosives on the islands. "NPA's activities on Solomon Islands have temporarily been put on hold, and NPA is working together with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force which is investigating the incident." "The accident took place in the Solomon Islands, where NPA is assisting the government in developing a centralised database that gives an overview of the extensive amounts of explosive remnants of war contamination dating from the Second World War.".

2020.09.21 10:01 Binjimen-VictorI was sexually assaulted in 7th grade
I don't even know if that is technically the correct term but here is my story: I wasn't a very popular kid, so anyone who showed affection I instantly fell for, well this one was a shit show from the very beginning. This woman was overly sexual but being a naive little kid I went with it; afterall I didn't know what I was getting into So we get to talking and we would "sext" every now and again but it got turned into me receiving nudes. I wasn't all for it but again, 7th grader. After a month or so of this she started pressuring me to send back, for about 2 weeks I said no, continued to say no, then finally gave in and took a picture (rookie mistake was I included my face). So without my knowledge she screenshots the image and I guess saves it for later? We break up a week later and a couple days after it everyone has seen the image, she sent it to a friend who sent it to a friend, who sent it to a friend, etc. I went to school and EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE started calling me "2.5". I had to be pulled out of school it just got so bad. It wasn't until 4 years later that I eventually shook it off and started to be more confident but it still affects my confidence to this day especially with sex, I have never done it, and I don't plan to; This experience completely shattered me. When people comment on how "antisocial" I am or how "inept" I am at certain things it stings a little because they're saying that with no previous knowledge of my experiences. Especially this one. I have told people this story when it's relevant to talk about, I'm alright with talking about it; but I have never come to grips with the fact that I was taken advantage of and put on full blast like that. I urge people going through similar things to start talking about it because that's the first step to recovery, I heard a good quote during all this once and it went something like "once you make jokes about it, no one can joke about it because they know it doesn't affect you." I carried those words with me for the rest of my life and applied them to everything and it has really helped me get through certain things. But my main coping mechanism was music, so if any of you ever want some music so you don't feel alone just DM me, I'll send you a very long list. I know I'm soapboxing a bit but I wanted to share my story and potentially help those going through similar struggles and what I did to cope with it.
2020.09.21 10:01 autotldrCovid: UK at 'critical point' in pandemic, top scientists to warn
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 70%. (I'm a bot)
Prof Chris Whitty believes the country is facing a "Very challenging winter period" and will hold a televised briefing at 11:00 BST. It comes after the prime minister spent the weekend considering whether to introduce further measures in England. On Sunday, a further 3,899 daily cases and 18 deaths were reported in the UK. The prime minister is understood to be considering a two-week mini lockdown in England - being referred to as a "Circuit breaker" - in an effort to stem widespread growth of the virus. What has been concerning some of those inside No 10 are predictions that there could be a significant number of deaths a day from Covid by the end of next month unless further action is taken. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he would meet council leaders on Monday and then recommend any London-specific measures to ministers. More areas in north-west England, West Yorkshire and the Midlands, will face further local restrictions from Tuesday, taking the number of people affected by increased local measures in the UK to around 13.5 million. Sir Graham Brady, who represents Tory backbenchers, said he would table an amendment which would require the government to put any new measures to a vote of MPs. Meanwhile, Lady Hale, the former president of the Supreme Court, said Parliament had "Surrendered" control to ministers during the pandemic, in an essay seen by the Guardian.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 86%. (I'm a bot)
The leaked FinCEN files suggest the bank was aware of facilitating suspicious transactions amounting to over $1 trillion dollars, including for a period after it had promised to clean up its act. Of these, $1.3 trillion worth of transactions passed through Deutsche Bank, which reported the activities to FinCEN. Deutsche Bank previously fined hundreds of millions. Upon receiving a catalogue of detailed questions from ICIJ, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank said the information contained in the files is "Not new information to us or our regulators" and that these issues date back to the years prior to 2016, adding that Deutsche Bank is "a different bank now." The FinCEN Files reveal that Deutsche Bank also conducted transactions for an oil refinery in Turkmenistan, despite it being in possible violation of Iranian sanctions. While Deutsche Bank TCA moved money for Turkmenbashi Oil, BNY Mellon, another bank that offers correspondence banking services in New York, refused to process transactions for the company around the same time. ICIJ's analysis of the FinCEN Files indicates that Deutsche Bank also shuffled more than $11 billion in transactions between 2003 and 2017 for companies tied to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire and a longtime ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin - despite being fully aware of ongoing investigations.
